This sort of started off as a bit of a joke, as I had an X-Acto knife with me for the scratchboard. As I am a bit of a loudmouth (I hope you were all sitting down when you read that, lest you fall over in a faint), I was smarting off about using it to do some Henri Matisse style cutouts. Then, I realized I had the materials to try to do a cutout and thought it may be an amusing challenge.
Here was the result. I actually liked it enough to try it again the following session, the results of which should be posted next week.
This was done as a paper cutout with an X-Acto on 8-1/2" x 11" black cardstock.
The head on this one is a little small and out of proportion (or the body is too big and out of proportion. Either way it comes to the same thing). Sigh. Oh, well, better luck next time... Try, try again. :-)
This was done with charcoal, carbon pencil, and white chalk on 12" x 18" gray bogus paper.
