Figure Drawing for April 27, 2010

45 Minute Pose

Another figure drawing... well, painting, I suppose.  This session was playing with lighting and had a red light on one side of the model and a blue light on the other, hence the unnaturally warm color on the side which was facing me.

This was done with watercolor on 11" x 15" Arches (#110) Hot-Press watercolor paper.

Hey, it's a figure drawing... Geez.  I gotta think of better stuff to write up here.  It's pretty redundant to the title, now that I think about it.  Oh, well... :-)

Figure Drawing for April 22, 2010

5 Minute Pose

Here are a bunch of figure drawings and warm-up sketches...

These were all part of the same drawing session.  Once again, the pastel on black paper never seems to shoot quite right.  Ah, well.  Blue and white seem to make things more ethereal and ghostlike.

This was done with pastel on 9" x 12" black cardstock.

* * *

5 Minute Pose

Second verse, same as the first: This was done with pastel on 9" x 12" black cardstock.

Verse the third... something or other... This was also done with pastel on 9" x 12" black cardstock.

Figure Drawing for March 9, 2010

40 Minute Pose

Oopsie!  I guess I'm falling behind schedule...  I'll try to keep on schedule a bit more in the future of 2-3 postings/picture per week.  No guarantees--explicit or implied in this proclamation.   :-)

This was done with watercolor on 11" x 15"  Stonehenge (#110) paper.

Also, as a bit of Trivia, this painting was on the front page of  The La Crosse Tribune as part of a cover story about nude models through the UW-L figuration class I go to when it it offered.  Here is the picture from the website (used on the front page of the paper edition, as well).

And, yes, that is my hand in the picture.  :-)

For those mildly interested, here is a link to the story from the paper.  I'm not sure how long the link will be active, but here it is currently:

As an added note: I just realized the story was posted one year and one day to the date of publication -- March 8th, 2009.  Rats!  I would have posted this yesterday if only I had known.  :-)

Figure Drawing for February 8, 2010

20 Minute Pose

Hey, I'm back!  Which is mildly amusing because today's picture is of a back and, well, you see... OK, I guess it wasn't all THAT mildly amusing.

Looks like my 2-3 weeks off turned into more like 6-8 weeks instead.  Busy, busy, busy.  And, of course, I have nothing much to show for it.  Oh, well, back to the salt mines.  :-)

I'm gonna change things up a little bit at the Arty-Farty Blog, mostly by posting a "mere" 2-3 times a week for a while.  I have lots of other things I'm trying to get done, so we'll see how that goes.

Anyhoo, enough talkin' and more chalkin'... You see, 'cuz it's charcoal and chalk... Oh, nevermind.

This picture was done with charcoal and white chalk on 8-1/2" x 11" gray cardstock.
